Avon and Somerset Police to offer TII 5-day Internet Intelligence and Investigation Training Programme

Social Media and Internet technologies are playing an increasingly critical role in proactive and reactive police operations at all levels. In recognition of this, Avon and Somerset Police and Toddington International Inc. (“TII”) have joined forces in a new training partnership that will provide essential online operational skills to frontline police investigators across the United Kingdom.

At  their purpose built computer classrooms near Bristol, the Avon and Somerset Police Investigative and ICT Training Unit will facilitate Toddington International’s  highly acclaimed and comprehensive 5-day internet intelligence and investigations training programme. Utilizing a dynamic and continually updated curriculum, combined with real-world case studies and challenging exercises, the course will be open to all police and related personnel and run regularly throughout the year.. Hundreds of officers and police staff have already successfully completed this course over the past decade.

About the Avon and Somerset Police Investigative and ICT Training Unit

Our training draws together a diverse range of experts and guest speakers from many sources including specialist CID departments, the National Police Improvement Agency, the Crown Prosecution Service, legal experts, Victim Support and other charitable trusts.

Within the unit, our qualified team delivers a variety of generic and specialist course to nearly 3,000 personnel each  year through  around 450 training events ranging in length from half a day to six weeks. These include courses for detectives of all ranks, child protection officers, specialist interviewers, surveillance operatives, intelligence officers, family liaison officers, drug investigators and source handlers amongst many others.

In February, 2012 the ICT Training Unit won the Gold Award for Training Department of the Year in the Public Sector category of the Learning and Performance Institute Awards, in recognition of  their consistent delivery of high quality and innovative training programmes.
